EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542 Readiness & Battery Passport Services

Prepare your products, processes, technical evidence and digital infrastructure for the new EU battery compliance framework.

Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 introduces new requirements for battery sustainability, safety, performance, production control, technical documentation, labelling, CE marking, carbon footprint, recycled content and digital traceability. VALIDX supports manufacturers, importers, battery assemblers, energy-storage companies and other economic operators through structured readiness and pre-assessment services.

Accreditation and notification status: VALIDX is currently progressing through the relevant accreditation and notification process. The services below are provided as independent readiness, pre-assessment, training and technical-review services. They do not constitute formal notified-body conformity assessment or certification.

Our Services

Regulatory Applicability & Product Classification

Identify the applicable battery category, legal obligations, implementation dates and likely conformity-assessment route for each product family.

Battery Regulation Pre-Assessment Audit

Independent desktop or on-site assessment of current readiness, including manufacturing controls, quality records, technical documentation, laboratory evidence, sustainability data and traceability. The result is a practical gap report and prioritised action plan.

Module D1 Readiness

Review whether the production quality system is prepared to demonstrate continuing conformity for series-produced batteries, including process controls, inspections, testing, supplier controls, competence, change management and data reliability.

Module G Readiness

Review the technical documentation, calculations, examinations, testing evidence and unit traceability required for non-series or individually verified batteries.

Technical Documentation Review

Assess the completeness, consistency and traceability of specifications, drawings, BoM, risk and safety information, test reports, declarations, manufacturing records and controlled revisions.

Carbon Footprint & Recycled Content Readiness

Review the governance, source data, supplier evidence, calculation controls, traceability and internal approval supporting Articles 7 and 8.

Battery Passport Readiness

Map the information required by Articles 77 and 78 and Annex XIII, including public and restricted data, model/batch/item records, data owners, lifecycle updates and evidence sources.

DPP Architecture & EU Registry Readiness

Assess integration with SAP, PLM, MES, LIMS, LCA and BMS systems; QR and unique identifier design; access management; cybersecurity; EU DPP Registry connectivity; versioning; backup and continuity.

Training & Workshops

Executive briefings, Module D1/G workshops, Battery Passport training, technical-documentation sessions and shopfloor implementation workshops for cross-functional teams.

Who Should Act Now?

  • battery cell, module, pack and complete-battery manufacturers;
  • industrial, motive-power and stationary energy-storage battery producers;
  • OEMs and companies integrating batteries into equipment or vehicles;
  • importers and private-label economic operators placing batteries on the EU market;
  • repurposing, remanufacturing, recycling and second-life organisations.

A Practical Readiness Programme

Scope

Classify products, sites and responsibilities.

Assess

Review processes, evidence, data and systems.

Prioritise

Issue a risk-based action plan.

Validate

 Perform a follow-up or mock assessment after implementation.

Why VALIDX?

VALIDX combines conformity-assessment experience with technical, sustainability, cybersecurity, digital-transformation and process-management capabilities. This allows the Battery Regulation to be approached as one coordinated compliance programme rather than as separate legal, laboratory, ESG and IT projects.

Start with a Pre-Assessment

Request a tailored proposal for a Battery Regulation pre-assessment, technical-documentation review or Battery Passport readiness assessment. The scope can be adapted to specific products, manufacturing sites, laboratories and implementation priorities.
